Sem Vergonha

The Portuguese phrase "sem vergonha" (pronounced sang vergonia), is roughly translated as "shameless". Abby's approach to spaghetti can only be described as such.

If you listen closely you can hear the bowl hitting her head, followed by some panting and then a licking sound...

Strawberry Fields Forever, Remix

On Friday, Abby, "Nan", and I decided to take a trek to the lovely town of Crozet to pick strawberries (see post below). We had such a great time and devoured the strawberries so quickly, we had to come back the next day for another batch. Abby was in heaven wandering up and down the patch. She quickly learned that the red ones are the best and that the little green thing on top doesn't taste that great.

A face only a mother, father, nana...okay, how could anyone NOT love that face?

Strawberry Fields Forever

Notice the progression from clean to very, very sticky.

Abby's Hobbies

Wearing shoes that don't quite fit...

...pink ones are the best!

Unloading tissue boxes.

Talking on the phone.

Smearing as much dinner on her face as she can.

Carrying things under her chin.

Not in this Lifetime!

This should make Grandpa & Grandma Hansen, and Lake & Elysa proud.

Mother's Day

Abby has a post-church meltdown.

Dad makes everything better with his books.

Abby's mood is further brightened as she discovers some of the toys we hid away while our house was on the market this past week.

Happy Mother's day to all of the wonderful women in our lives, we appreciate all that you have done for us. At this time, we would also like to express our gratitude and love for Karen; we miss you!

In the Garden

Yesterday, Abby and I decided to spend some time in our favorite pavilion garden at UVa. As our time in Virginia comes to a close, Rich and I are trying to soak up all the beauty of the area. We know that Charlottesville will always hold a very special place in our hearts, and we are so grateful for the opportunity we have had to spend 5 years in this incredible place.

Our dream backyard

Abby takes a break from pushing her stroller to give the camera a little smile.

Giving Teddy Rabbit loves.

Just moments after throwing Teddy down the stairs (we had better watch out if we ever have child #2).

Abby was having so much fun running on the path, she didn't notice that she lost a shoe.

Strolling Around Ivy Creek

Going for a ride in my cool new backpack (thanks Nana!)

Yes, Abby, that's grass.

Ah yuck, this half-eaten acorn is not delicious (no wonder the squirrels didn't want it)...

...let's see if this flower tastes better!

Picky Eater

Ha ha, you can't stop me from pouring my Cheerios all over the floor.

The purple ones are my favorite!
